Cultural Arts at the J
The Cultural Arts department at the Merage Jewish Community Center of Orange County offers a wide variety of programs for individuals of all ages and families: Art classes, Film, Music and Book Festivals, Art exhibits, Youth Theatre, Off Broadway shows, guest speakers and much more! Come to the JCC to enjoy and participate in the wide variety of activities for all ages.
Orange County Jewish Theatre

School of Visual Art
The JCC School of Visual Art is focused on developing the individual’s love for the visual arts. Classes are exploratory in nature and have a planned curriculum that promotes intellectual, aesthetic and emotional growth. Projects are designed to introduce the student to a variety of media and the nature of the creative process.
Adult Classes are available Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and are 3 hours long. Lessons will focus on drawing, developing a color palette, creating texture and understanding perspective.
Children and Teen classes are eight weeks in length and cover several different media.
Slutzky Art Gallery
The JCC Slutzky Art Gallery’s mission is to promote quality Jewish art and Jewish artists. Artists are selected because of their commitment to advancing Jewish life through the visual arts.
JStage
The Merage JCC’s children’s theatre program, J-Stage, is your child’s opportunity to shine. This premier children and teen theatre program is focused on teaching acting, stage and performance skills by creating theater opportunities. J-Stage professionals will work to each child’s strength to create a positive atmosphere which bolsters self-esteem. J-Stage offers workshops, classes and major musical productions.
JStars
The Merage Jewish Community Center’s first adult theater group, “JStars”, showcases the singing and dancing talents of 28 JCC members ages 18 and up. Our second production: “Hooray for Hollywood” is a revue show featuring Broadway shows that have made the transition to hit Hollywood films. auditions are Oct. 15 and 16, 7:30-9:30 p.m. The performances will be January 12 and 13, 2013.
