The winner of the 2015 Israeli Film Academy Ophir Award for best film and Israel’s official foreign language film entry in the 2016 Oscars, is a coming-of-age story set in a Persian immigrant moshav in the Negev. The drama depicts three generations in the Morgian family as they eke out a meager living on their small turkey farm in the early 1980s and the rebellious teenage grandson who would rather be a mechanic than carry on the family business.
The film provides a metaphor for the struggle between the immigrant generation who wants to hold on to the past and traditions from another country, and the sabra generation of Israelis born into a new identity and seeing a different path.
