Merage Jewish Community Center Names Annual
Scholarship Golf Tournament After Bob Appleton,
Father of Adrienne Matros, Merage JCC Board Member

Irvine – Friends and family of Bob Appleton and the Merage Jewish Community Center will gather on October 11 at Irvine’s Oak Creek Golf Club for the annual scholarship golf tournament benefiting JCC kids and families.

The annual event was recently renamed in honor of Bob Appleton. Bob was a long-time supporter of the Merage JCC. His daughter, Adrienne Matros is an active member on the board of directors and plays a leading role on numerous committees. For several years, Bob joined Adrienne on the greens, supporting the golf tournament and helping to raise money for scholarships.

Bob passed away in April. The tournament was named in his memory to celebrate his life, and his love for family, children, and sports. Proceeds of the day help fund the $300,000+ in scholarships distributed each year to JCC kids and families who need financial assistance in order to be able to attend the JCC’s preschool, camp, after school, and teen programming.

Over 100 golfers are expected to head out to the links in October in recognition of Bob Appleton and in support of the Merage JCC.
