Partners in Children’s Education

At the Merage JCC’s Early Childhood Learning Center, we recognize the potential in each child and we value the vital contributions that families make to the school community. We believe that children are competent and capable learners, researchers and problem solvers. Our emergent curriculum is designed to support children’s spirit of inquiry by offering opportunities for large and small group exploration. Our teachers create a forum for children to share their theories, knowledge and questions, leading to discovery, growth and contextual learning. Parents are invited to be part of this process, ensuring that the child’s home and classroom integrate seamlessly. We believe that it takes a strong partnership between parents, faculty and eager young students to create a learning community, a school where the best early childhood theories are put into practice. When children, teachers and families share in this type of learning journey, it is easy to become involved in the excitement of a child who is beginning to understand the world and his or her place in it.
All parents want the best for their children. As you explore our beautiful campus you will discover a warm welcoming environment where families are enriched and children learn, grow, explore, play and wonder. Early childhood education at the Merage JCC offers Orange County families a place where our shared values, an exceptional faculty and a supportive community come together to create a unique educational experience.

Curriculum:
Our curriculum is founded upon the richness of Judaic tradition and values and is deeply inspired by the theories and philosophies of the schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy. This cutting edge philosophy of early learning maintains a strong focus on children’s academic development through an approach that fosters a love for literacy, math and science. Each day we provide opportunities for social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth that prepare children for kindergarten readiness. In our small class sizes, children develop research, inquiry and critical thinking skills. Children construct meaning from their learning environments which seamlessly blend the richness of Jewish values, traditions and holiday celebrations into our early childhood education.
JCC preschoolers and their families have access to an unparalleled facility and all the benefits of the entire Merage JCC, including indoor and outdoor athletic facilities, swimming pools and spacious grounds.
Through creative hands-on experiences, our children embark on a journey from home to kindergarten. Our programs are designed and based upon the most recent research in brain development and are founded upon cutting edge child development.
We know that children learn and progress as they grow and develop new skills and ways of thinking and perceiving. In our state-of-the-art classrooms, our children are encouraged to embark on an exploration of concepts, gain awareness and understanding of literacy and numeracy, and become more articulate, confident individuals.
