The Merage JCC preschool is located in Irvine near Newport Coast. Our Gan Tapuz Early Childhood Learning Center provides a tender transition from home to school where children learn to explore and relate to a wider world. At the Merage JCC Preschool our goal is to build a foundation for a joy of lifelong learning. Curriculum/Learning Centers:

The Merage JCC preschool’s integrated curriculum focuses on next step and kindergarten readiness as we blend Jewish values, traditions and holiday celebrations into our early childhood program. In our interest-centered state-of-the-art classrooms we encourage independence and self-direction. In our Early Childhood Learning Center we provide an environment where children develop cognitive, sensory and motor skills as well as develop skills in research, inquiry and critical thinking through their daily activities. All our children take pleasure in music, instruments, rhythm and movement taught by our Music Specialist. In addition to Jewish holiday celebrations and Hebrew language, Jewish values (kindness, respect, responsibility, environmental awareness, community and friendship) are woven into our curriculum using the unique JCC Ethical Start program.

Age-appropriate curriculum is key at the Merage JCC Preschool:

Through creative hands-on experiences, our children embark on a journey from home to kindergarten. Our 2, 3 and 4-year-old programs are designed around the stages of childhood learning and progress along with the children as they grow and develop new skills and ways of thinking and perceiving. Beginning with our two-year-old transition program, our youngest students learn to separate from parents and focus on developing social and self-help skills and explore introductory concepts such as colors, numbers and seasons.

In the Merage JCC Preschool’s state-of-the-art classrooms, which include computers, our 3 and 4-year-old children are encouraged to embark on an exploration of concepts, gain awareness and understanding of letters and numbers, and become more articulate. As they master new skills, they develop confidence and a desire to become more accomplished individuals.
