Parents as Partners
Our classrooms are special places where we have the opportunity to support and empower each other. Families are welcomed into our community to share their experiences and as partners in nurturing their child’s development. Our teachers foster supportive classroom communities in which each child feels safe and encouraged to take academic and social risks, discovering that learning comes from making fruitful mistakes. As members of our classroom community we work together to be active listeners and treat everyone with mutual respect, nurturing individuals who are caring, compassionate, and empathetic.
Communication: You will receive frequent communication from our classrooms via email, in-person communication, and the use of secure Facebook groups. Our teachers will provide synopses of your child’s day, so you may continue conversations at home about what we are examining in school. Documentation, visible accounts of your child’s explorative process, are also posted in the classrooms, on the bulletin boards outside of your classrooms, are often posted to the Facebook pages and can be sent in .pdf format via email. This information is intended to help you be involved in your child’s learning and allows you to extend experiences at home through conversation or continuing explorations together. We encourage parents to spend a few moments at drop off or pick up, looking around our classrooms and in the halls for more in-depth documentation as our long-term work emerges.
