Near the end of the war in Lebanon in 2000, a group of Israeli soldiers defends an isolated mountain outpost next to a 12th-century fortress called Beaufort Castle. Moving through a maze-like underground structure, they are under constant bombardment and stress. The young commander is at odds with demolitions expert, and tensions rise as the troops prepare to withdraw and possibly destroy the very bunker they have been defending.

The film depicts their feelings and their fears, and explores their moral dilemmas in the days preceding the withdrawal and end of the 18-year South Lebanon conflict.
