OC Jewish Arts Festival presents Chemi Peres

No Room for Small Dreams: Courage, Imagination and the Making of Modern Israel

Thursday, November 15, 7 p.m.

Sponsored by The Roslyn & Joseph Baim Family Foundation / Barbara and Joseph Baim

As the son of Shimon Peres, Nechemia (“Chemi”)Peres was raised among the pioneers of Israel,so he knows first-hand about the state’s politicaland business climate. While his father servedas a long-time member of the Knesset and asIsrael’s ninth president, Chemi became oneof the “Start Up Nation’s” preeminent venture capitalists. He has collaborated with the most inventive minds in Israel and has developed a deep understanding of the role innovation and technology play in global stability. Currently, he is Managing General Partner and Co-Founder of Pitango Venture Capital Group, a key player on the global entrepreneurial stage.

Building on his father’s vision of peace and prosperity through innovation, Chemi draws upon his own experience to illustrate the power of technological innovation in shaping the world. As Chairman of the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation, Chemi is committed to continuing Shimon’s legacy. The Peres Center has pioneered cutting-edge peace-building programs that have brought together thousands of Jews and Arabs, Israelis and Palestinians over the last 21 years. Chemi continues to spread his father’s message of the importance of meaningful cooperation.

Shimon Peres’ autobiography, No Room for Small Dreams, completed just weeks before his passing, is a guide to the history of Israel’s founding and the making of the modern, hitech nation. It charts a path forward for Israel, and provides deep and universal wisdom for younger generations who seek to lead. Expounding on this memoir, Chemi shares his
father’s hopes that we will all dream bigger, create a better world, and serve a greater cause.
