Great Jewish Americans 101: Jews in Baseball
Sunday, February 17, 4 - 5:30 p.m.
There has been a love affair between Jewish Americans and our national pastime that dates back to the very origins of the game. This presentation will examine the nature of that attraction and the challenges faced by Jewish ballplayers. In addition, the lecture will survey the contributions "The People of the Book" have made not only on the field, but also as sportswriters, announcers, statisticians, owners, and baseball executives.
Dr. Don Schwartz is an emeritus professor of history at California State University, Long Beach. He was named a "Distinguished Lecturer" by the Organization of American History.
