The Merage JCC is excited to welcome people back into our theatre (safely and distanced), and there’s no better occasion to celebrate than Israel’s Independence Day! Please join us on Saturday, April 17 at 8pm for some laughs and “L’chaims” as we Roast and Toast Israel on her 73rd birthday. American-born Israeli comedian Benji Lovitt will join us from Tel Aviv, along with American comedians Talia Reese and Eitan Levine from New York.
Benji draws on his experiences as an American in Israel to share entertaining insights into cultural differences and the challenges and wonders of life in Israel. Since making Aliyah in 2006, Benji Lovitt’s hilarious narrative about being an American in Israel helps provide a morale boost during the good times and the bad, and his perspectives have been featured in publications such as Time, USA Today, Huffington Post, The Atlantic, and the Times of Israel.
Talia, a former bankruptcy attorney and Orthodox Jew, whom the New York Post called a “Hot Ticket,” manages to find a balance between raunch and religion. A mother of two who is married to a fellow lawyer, Talia performs regularly at comedy clubs, and has opened for Caroline Rhea and Nick DiPaolo.
Eitan is a writer and comedian who performs at The People’s Improv Theater, Magnet Theater, Stand Up New York and Caroline’s Comedy Club, and writes for the websites Elite Daily, Cheddar and Mashable. Levine who spent a year in Israel and won a Last Comic Standing competition there, has been performing stand-up since the age of 15.
Come raise a glass and have some laughs while we celebrate Yom Ha’atazmaut.
