Don’t Feed the Lion: Raising Courageous Kids

Sunday, November 15, 4 P.M.

In partnership with Rose Project

Join us for a powerful conversation with Don’t Feed the Lion co-author Bianna Golodryga about her poignant middle grade novel for ages 8 - 12. Golodryga, CNN Anchor and Senior Global Affairs Analyst, and Israeli Channel 12 Evening News Anchor Yonit Levi wrote the story they wanted as parents, one that empowers children to question injustice, embrace allyship, and find the courage to speak out.

More than a novel, Don’t Feed the Lion is a tool for change, encouraging kids and adults to explore the lasting, real-world effects of antisemitism and bullying through empathy and honest dialogue. At a time when many young people are grappling with these issues every day, both online and off, this book offers a meaningful way to begin those conversations.

Bianna Golodryga is an Emmy® Award-winning journalist. Based in New York, she anchors “One World with Zain Asher and Bianna Golodryga” weekdays at 11 am ET on CNN International and CNN Max and is CNN’s Senior Global Affairs Analyst.

Golodryga has reported extensively on Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israel, helped lead CNN’s extensive Russia-related coverage, and regularly fills in as host of signature CNN programs, including “Amanpour” and “Fareed Zakaria GPS.”

Moderated by Lisa Armony, Vice President of Hillel International’s Campus Climate Initiative (CCI) where she leads national efforts to partner with higher education administrators to foster inclusion, belonging, and identity safety for Jewish students across North America. A seasoned strategist, educator, and leader, Lisa has spent her career developing bridge-building platforms, educational frameworks, and community initiatives to combat antisemitism and all forms of hate.

Prior to rejoining Hillel in 2022, Lisa served as Chief Impact Officer at the Jewish Federation of Orange County and Director of its Rose Project, where she developed comprehensive civic engagement strategies and leadership programs for teens and adults. As interim Executive Director of Orange County Hillel (2015–2017), she designed an innovative, multi-perspective study tour of Israel and the Palestinian Authority for diverse student leaders—a model that has since been scaled nationally and globally.
