What are ShinShinim?

ShinShinim are a select group of promising Israeli high school graduates who choose to defer their enlistments in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to spend a year as Israeli ambassadors in communities around the world. 

Doron and Noam will be a part of our Jewish OC bringing contemporary Israeli life and strong Israeli connections to our community and putting a face on Israelis, while experiencing the world of diaspora Jewry in California

Host a Shinshin!

We're looking for families to show off Jewish OC and gaining an experience of a lifetime! Hosting a ShinShin is an incredible opportunity to bring Israeli culture into your home while letting an Israeli teen experience and learn about Jewish life in the diaspora. When we invite these young Israeli emissaries into our homes, they become part of our community.

  • A welcoming and supportive home for 2 months
  • A private, designated, clean room that is not used for anything else.
  • Access to a bathroom that can be locked
  • Daily meals
  • Include Shinshinim in family activities in town
