You just had a GREAT WORKOUT! Now What?

Getting a great workout in feels so good, but don't sell yourself short by missing out on these post-workout MUST DOs!
 
1) Stretch! This is the single most important thing you can do after a great workout. And I don't mean the 3-5 minutes stretch that is typically included in a group exercise class. If you can spare another 10 minutes do some additional stretching on your own, hold those stretches a little longer and a little deeper while your body and muscles are still warm. Or better yet - take a yoga class, or our Melt Class, or a yogalates class on another day to round out your workout routine.
 
2) Hydrate! Don't wait till you are thirsty to drink water! Drink water before, during and after your workout. Consider it a type of gasoline for that amazing machine called your body. And steer clear of sugary drinks, soda and coffee.
 
3) Don't forget about your mental health! Consider meditation, mindfulness, journaling, hiking or any activity that decreases the stress and anxiety that we are all feeling right now. Set up a place to relax, perhaps a quiet corner in your home or yard where you can spend a few minutes of quiet time.
 
4) Sleep! Put that phone and laptop away so you can truly unplug and calm your mind before you go to bed. Try to be consistent in what time you get to bed every night considering most people lack getting enough shut-eye. Sleep is when your body is repairing and rejuvenating from that great workout.
