All JStage productions are open to the community, and feature professional direction, lighting, sound, and scenic design. Performances will take place in the 488 seat Isidore C. & Penny W. Myers Theatre at the Merage JCC in Irvine. No participation fees are required. Non-Equity, no pay.

 

AUDITIONS
Sunday, July 23, 11 A.M. - 6 P.M.
11 A.M. - 4 P.M.: Individual appointments (you may be asked to stay and dance)
4 - 6 P.M.: Dance/movement call (all interested dancers must also sign-up for an individual audition appointment)

Callbacks will be held by invitation only on Thursday, July 27, from 6:30 - 10 P.M.

Click the link at the bottom of the page to reserve your audition slot. Prepare 16 bars of a song of your choice in the style of the show to sing with a backing track (mp3 preferred), or you may sing from a selection of sides that will be made available to auditioning actors beginning the first week of July.

If you will not be available for live auditions, you may submit a video audition no later than Saturday, July 22 at 5 P.M. Please email [email protected] for further information.

SEEKING ACTORS AGES 9 - ADULT FOR THE FOLLOWING ROLES

Harold Hill
Male identifying, playing age 25 - 45, excellent actor, strong baritone (Ab2-F4), strong mover. A charismatic and charming con man, traveling under the auspices of a salesman. He eventually falls in love with Marian Paroo.

Marian Paroo
Female identifying, playing age 21 - 40, excellent actor, legit soprano (G3-A5), strong mover. The town librarian and music teacher. Discerning and curious, Marian is an intelligent young woman who eventually falls for Harold Hill.

Winthrop Paroo
Male identifying, playing age 8 - 12, strong actor, confident singer (C4-Eb5), strong mover. Marian’s younger brother. He is very shy because of a noticeable lisp.

Mrs. Paroo
Female identifying, playing age 45-60, excellent actor, confident singer (Ab3-Eb5), strong mover. An Irish widow, and mother to Marian and Winthrop. Mrs. Paroo is cheerful and always plotting.

Marcellus Washburn
Male identifying, playing age 25 - 45, strong comedic actor, confident singer (G2-A4) and strong mover. Harold’s chummy old friend, and a former con man.

Mayor Shinn
Male identifying, playing age 40 - 60. Strong comedic actor. A blustery, self-important politician who is skeptical of the town rumor mill. Begrudgingly married to Eulalie.

Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn
Female identifying, playing age 40 - 60, excellent comedic actress and confident singer (D4-D5). Mayor Shinn's peacock wife. A serial gossiper and snob, she has trouble keeping her opinions to herself.

Zaneeta Shinn
Female identifying, playing age 16 - 20, strong actor and excellent musical theatre dancer. The Mayor's daughter who is in love with Tommy Djilas. Sweet and outgoing.

Charlie Cowell
Male identifying, playing age 25 - 50, strong actor with excellent rhythm. A traveling salesman who is wise to Harold Hill's schemes. Charlie tirelessly attempts to expose Harold as a con man.

Amaryllis
Female identifying, playing age 8 - 12, strong actor, singer (C4-E5), and mover. A bratty piano student. Amaryllis is very fond of Winthrop.

Ewart Dunlop
Male identifying, playing age 25 - 50, strong actor and tenor with excellent harmony skills (F3-F5). A member of the Barbershop quartet formed by Harold Hill. Ewart is married to Maude Dunlop.

Oliver Hix
Male identifying, playing age 25 - 50, strong actor and baritone with excellent harmony skills (B2-F4). A member of the Barbershop quartet formed by Harold Hill. Oliver is married to Alma Hix.

Jacey Squires
Male identifying, playing age 25 - 50, strong actor and tenor with excellent harmony skills (C3-C5). The highest tenor in the Barbershop quartet formed by Harold Hill. Married to Mrs. Squires.

Olin Britt
Male identifying, playing age 25 - 50, strong actor and tenor with excellent harmony skills (F2-C4). The bass in the Barbershop quartet formed by Harold Hill.

Alma Hix
Female identifying, playing age 25 - 50, strong actor and singer. A "Pick-A-Little Lady", married to Oliver Hix.

Maud Dunlop
Female identifying, playing age 25 - 50, strong actor and singer. A "Pick-A-Little Lady", married to Ewart Dunlop.

Ethel Toffelmier
Female identifying, playing age 25 - 50, strong actor and singer. A "Pick-A-Little Lady”, and Marcellus Washburn's girlfriend.

Mrs. Squires
Female identifying, playing age 25 - 50, strong actor and singer. A "Pick-A-Little Lady", married to Jacey Squires.

Teen Ensemble
2 male identifying and 2 female identifying actors, playing age 16 - 20. Strong musical theatre dancers and singers.

Adult Ensemble
Playing age 20 - 60, strong actors, singers, and movers, all types and vocal ranges. Roles to be cast from the ensemble include Constable Locke, Train Conductor, River City Townspeople, and Traveling Salespeople.

Child Ensemble
3 male identifying and 3 female identifying actors, playing age 8 - 12. Strong singers and movers.

Please note:

All performers under the age of 14 must be concurrently enrolled in our fall production of Disney’s Newsies Jr.

All actors must move well.

The role of Tommy Djilas has been cast.

Performers of all ethnicities, cultural, religious, and gender identities, as well as performers with disabilities, are strongly encouraged to audition for all roles.
