Includes dinner, cooking demo and a panel discussion

Join us for a delicious dinner featuring recipes from Adeena Sussman's latest cookbook Zariz, followed by a cooking demo and panel discussion. The panel discussion with Adeena Sussman, Sharon Weider and Dr. Joshua G. Cohen will be moderated by Chef Liron Regev. Cookbooks will be available for purchase at the event.

Adeena Sussman is a cookbook author, writer, and proud home cook whose work explores the intersection of Jewish and Israeli and culinary cultures. Her new cookbook, Zariz: 100 Easy, Breezy, Tel Aviv-y Recipes, will be released on April 28. Her last cookbook, Shabbat: Recipes and Rituals From My Table To Yours, released in September 2023, was an instant New York Times best seller. Shabbat is the follow-up to Sababa: Fresh, Sunny Flavors From My Israeli Kitchen, which was named a Best Fall 2019 cookbook by The New York Times, Bon Appetit, and Food & Wine. Prior to writing her own works, Adeena coauthored 15 cookbooks, including three New York Times bestsellers with Chrissy Teigen. Adeena has written or been featured in The Wall Street Journal. The New York Times, Bon Appetit, Food & Wine and countless other publications. She graduated with honors from both Boston University's College of Communications and The Institute or Culinary Education. Adeena cooks and writes in Tel Aviv, where she lives in the shadow of that city's Carmel Market with her husband, Jay Shofet.

Sharon Wieder is a registered dietician in private practice in New Jersey. The mother of three children and three grandchildren, Sharon is a serial volunteer with too many good deeds to her name to list (this is her sister bragging). In 2005, she was diagnosed with ductile carcinoma while her and Adeena's mother, Steffi z"l, was in the final stages of her own cancer battle. Sharon opted for a double mastectomy and had a full recovery. During her cancer journey, she was the beneficiary of Sharsheret's breast cancer support services. After Steffi died in February 2006, Sharon and Adeena approached Sharsheret with the idea of expanding their reach to include support for women and their families living with an ovarian cancer diagnosis. Soon thereafter they launched the Pies For Prevention bake sale, which raised the seed money to launch Sharsheret's ovarian cancer programming. Sixteen years later, there are bake sales in dozens of cities each year and the Pies For Prevention bake sale has raised over a million dollars.

Joshua G. Cohen, M.D. is a board-certified gynecologic oncologist and Medical Director of the Gynecologic Cancer Program at the Lennar Foundation Cancer Center at City of Hope Orange County. Dr. Cohen is an expert in the surgical cytoreduction of cancer and in the use of minimally invasive surgical techniques, including robotic surgery. He completed a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at UCLA and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He has been recognized by Los Angeles Magazine as one of L.A.'s Top Doctors and a Southern California Super Doctor. Dr. Cohen has led significant efforts in gynecologic cancer research and completed the Clinical Research Training Program at the National Institutes of Health, as well as the Clinical and Translational Science Institute certificate program at UCLA Medical Center. Dr. Cohen grew up in Orange County, and he considers it an honor to serve patients in the same area where he was raised. He has worked with Sharsheret for the past six years and is grateful for the immense work that Shatsheret continues to do with patients and families impacted by breast and ovarian cancer.

Sharsheret, a Jewish nonprofit organization in the US and Israel, provides free virtual personalized support, lifesaving education, financial assistance and genetic counseling to empower those faced with or at increased risk of breast cancer and ovarian cancer. Sharsheret services are open to everyone regardless of background. Visit sharsheret.org for more information.
